longing for spring

They say that spring is coming,

They tell me winter is through

I listen for the birds now

And dream of nightingales too

Yet still a chill comes over me

When will my heart feel like singing?

Though clouds today are winter gray

Could grass be green? Am I dreaming?

Who could say that spring is here?

It looks like snow late this evening

I’m longing for that morning

when winter will give way to spring…

my lil ones in spring

they look forward to the warmer months!

they look forward to the warmer months, when all comes to life again

the birds shall return to our garden!

blog anniversary

from the cover of one of my favourite novels!

from the cover of one of my favourite novels!

Be not afraid of growing slowly, be afraid of only standing still.

I feel happy today, my blog has reached the 1 year milestone! I look back at the time when I wished I had a blog of my own, secretly admiring the blogs of several people I used to know personally. I wondered to myself whether I could turn that dream into reality. Alhamdulillah, Praise be to God, I have lived my dream for a whole year now! I would like to thank everyone who’s supported my blog; my beloved hubby and four children, my dearest sisters, a relative or two, my good old friends, my followers, commenters and fellow bloggers. My blog means a whole lot more with your presence and encouragement! My blogging experience has also opened up my world in more ways than one, truly inspiring and educational. I hope to venture into my second blogging year with the same vigour and spirit, I  take pride in this simple blog of mine and I enjoy it immensely. A space of my own where I can share my chattering, thoughts, feelings and experiences with everyone. So do stick around and join me in my journey ahead, more insight into the heart and mind of this humble Easterner in a Western world. Thank you once again to all from the bottom of my heart. Have a lovely weekend!

autumn poem

The Leaves of October

Oh, I want to dance with the leaves of October

That merrily twirl in the air,

To blend with the yellow, the reds, and the golds of them.

To dance in the wind without care.

And I want to run in the warm Autumn sun,

Skip under the azure blue sky,

To drift with the breeze among billowing leaves,

Rejoicing that I am alive.

So let me forget the cold chill of November

While October still is with me.

Too soon come the rains and the long, dreary winter nights,

Too quickly laid barren the trees.

Oh, I want to dance with the leaves of October

Before summer’s warmth must depart.

Lord, let me lay hold of their red, brown, green, gold

And treasure their dance in my heart.

Kathryn E. Darden

my children enjoying autumn

under the autumn sun

October leaves

almost barren trees

red, gold, brown and green

treasure their dance in my heart

thank you God, for all the beauty in this life!

nostalgic air

My sister will be graduating this Saturday, she finally completed her PhD after several years of real hard work. I’m so pleased for her, I wish I could have been there to celebrate her joy. As always, moments like this make me nostalgic, so allow me to take a break from my autumn posts to remember my homeland. Allow me to be there in my heart and mind, to miss all my loved ones, to reminisce all that I treasure and cherish back home. I’ve included another song by Anuar Zain, as I noticed many views on the particular post about him a while back, so definitely time for another song of his! Not to mention both my sister and I are crazy about his songs and so do millions more Malaysian women I believe! To my dear ones and fellow Malaysians everywhere, enjoy this song! As my hubby said to me, you can take a Malaysian out of Malaysia but you can never take Malaysia out of a Malaysian! To my beloved sister, many congratulations, I love you heaps!

my siblings (PhD middle sis & youngest sis) on graduation day, happy times!

autumn quotes

Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.
Albert Camus

Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns.
George Eliot

No spring nor summer beauty hath such grace
As i have seen in one autumnal face.
John Donne

Totally mesmerized by Autumn at the moment, do join me!
